How to Build a Balanced Plate

Eating well does not need complicated rules. Thinking about your plate in simple sections is an easy way to enjoy balanced, satisfying meals every day.

Fill your plate

  • Half with vegetables and fruit in a variety of colors.
  • A quarter with lean protein such as fish, chicken, beans, eggs or tofu.
  • A quarter with whole grains like brown rice, quinoa or whole wheat bread.
  • A little healthy fat from olive oil, nuts, seeds or avocado.
Water is the best drink to enjoy alongside your balanced plate.

Adapt it to your day

The same idea works for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Swap ingredients with the seasons to keep meals interesting.

Eat mindfully

Slow down, enjoy each bite and stop when you feel comfortably full.
